This plugin is currently using the v1 Alpha 1 version of the Perspective API and is considered experimental. Please be aware that whilst the plugin itself has been tested, the API may change/break. Beware of using this on production sites. For more information see www.perspectiveapi.com. About the Plugin Get a score of how toxic a comment is by having it analysed by the Perspective API made by Google. It will add meta data to the comment and allow you to show these scores via a shortcode. For more information, please go to www.perspectiveapi.com. Plugin Support Please start a new topic in the official WordPress support forum and I’ll try to answer your question as soon as I can. Using the API You will need a valid and active API key in order for the plugin to work and have comments scored. How Do I Get An API Key You will need to login to a Google account and then go to the Google Developer Console. Once logged in you will need to create a new project and give it a name. After doing so you will have a brand new project where you can enable a vast array of APIs made by Google which can connect your website to Google products or services. Go to the Credentials section in order to get new credentials for your project you have just created. You will now be able to create an API Key amongst other things. Get the key and place any restrictions you wish on the key in order to repent misuse of it by other people. Go to the Library of APIs and find the Perspective API in the list. Some APIs may require an invitation in order to see and activate it. If you have been granted permission, you can then click to enable the API which will let you use the API key that you created to authenticate the requests. When you have done the above, you are ready to get started. Login to your WordPress admin area and go to Settings > Discussion. Scroll to the bottom to see the Toxic Comments section where you can enter your API key. Save the changes you make on this page and then you are ready to start using the plugin! Can I Filter Or Sort Comments? No, this plugin simply scores the comments that are posted to each article. Advanced filtering and sorting would require custom code which is currently not supported. About Your Data A native feature and core part of this plugin is the use of the Perspective API which is made by Jigsaw (part of Google). The only information sent to Google servers is the contents of all comments on your website once the plugin is installed and activated. Any other piece of comment meta data is not sent to Google. Information (the contents of a comment) may also be stored on Google servers for the purpose of studying data to improve the service. For more information on how Google use your data can be found on their Privacy Policy page. The authors and contributors to this plugin do not personally store any information and are not affiliated or endorsed by Google in any way unless explicitly stated otherwise. Please also be aware of the Google Terms of Service when using this plugin. In order to stop the transmitting of the contents of a comment, deactivate the plugin from your WordPress installation.
